IAU, Hosted the First IVU Meeting in Tehran

The Islamic Azad University hosted the first Islamic Virtual University's board of trustees meeting in Tehran.
The Islamic Virtual University (IVU) is an educational establishment which operates in the context of FUIW towards the expansion of knowledge, training, science, and technology in the Islamic world, with taking advantage of IT, available within the FUIW sphere. Internet facility is one of the means in which IVU tries to enrich the Islamic world's knowledge of technology, science, and their teaching to potential young people of the Islamic world region, and beyond, ie. the Middle Eastern area of the Islamic world, and further afield in the Islamic world.
The first meeting of IVU board of trustees took place on the 11th and 12th January, 2010. The host was the IAU's Centre for Science, and Research. The meeting was at the presence of Dr. Jassbi, the IAU president, and chairman of FUIW's executive council. Additionally, Dr. Mahmood Mohammadi, the IAU, vice-president for international affairs was at present in the gathering. Other participants were, Mustafa Ahmad Ali, director-general of FUIW's General Secretariat, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Iskanderani, who was choosen as the first vice-president of IVU, Dr. Sulaiman Shamsadain, who was appointed as the second vice-president of IVU and Dr. Mahmod Mpezaminigo, who was choosen as the reporter of IVU. Dr. Altwaijri the general-secretary of ISESCO who was not present at the meeting was nevertheless informed of the progress made.
The next IVU general meeting has been set to take place, in the UAE. Dr. Jassbi, expressed his thanks to the board for their efforts, and hoped that in the near future the IVU would become an unprecedented institution.
The Fifteenth FUIW Executive Council Meeting to Take Place in Baku
The fifteenth FUIW executive council meeting, and the fifth general assembly of FUIW is scheduled to be held in Baku, the capital city of Azarbayejan Republic. This shall be in May/June 2010, and the State Economics University of Azarbayejan will be the host for the upcoming gathering.
The FUIW session will focus on expansion of academic co-operation, such as research, education and training, among the member universities of this association. Furthermore, the meeting is meant to deal with any outstanding issue, which has not been dealt with, regarding exchange of students and faculty members, etc.
Other matters which will be taken into consideration at the meeting are financial, and administrative affairs of FUIW, issues related to new memberships, made by various universities, and specifying the place, and date of the 16th FUIW executive council meeting. Dr. Jassbi, the IAU president, has been the chairman of FUIW executive council for three terms of office.
IAU & Japanese Univs.to Collaborate
The Islamic Azad University's vice-presidency for international affairs, in a meeting with professor Makoto Hachioshi, the Japanese specialist on Iranian studies from Tokyo University, looked at ways in which collaborations, between the Islamic Azad University, and Tokyo University can take place.
According to professor Makoto Hachioshi, the Islamic Azad University has made significant achievements, and has taken giant steps towards the developments teaching, education, training, science, and culture in the Iranian society. It is hoped that the future steps will be in the international arena.
In the meeting the Japanese professor welcomed the IAU proposal for mutual cooperations. He also asked a draft MoU to be prepared for such joint activities. Dr. Mohammadi, the vice-president for international affairs of the IAU, also requested an MoU to be written in regard to the teaching of Persian, and Japanese literature in both countries, respectively. Additionally, joint co-operations in other areas were also stressed on, to be included in the MoU, such as exchange of students, faculty members, research, seminars, and symposiums. Dr. Ahadi, the IAU, Zone 1 chief, added, "in this respect, the IAU zone 1 has taken the initiative, and Shiraz branch of the Islamic Azad University, has been for sometimes, considering to establish the chair of Japanese studies, for those Iranian students who intend to continue their studies in Japan."
Thus, Shiraz branch of the IAU, in a joint venture with the University's vice-presidency for international affairs, are planning to launch centre for Japanese studies.
