Islamic Azad University: Vice Presidency for Research

The Vice Presidency for Research is responsible for decisions on research policies, and issues, throughout the Islamic Azad University campus. It makes sure that campuses of the Islamic Azad University work in the frame-work of general policies adopted by the University's Central Organization , such as rules, and procedures governing academic, and scientific research conduct. The Vice President of Research has a wide range of administrative functions. They are as follows:

B. Regulating research through the maintenance of standards of review processes.

C. Management of research activities ensuring that all research activities, undertaken at the University, are within the frame work of the rules and regulations.

Islamic Azad University's Council of Research is highly involved in research policies that are to be implemented by the university at a very high level. It formulates the executive strategies of research and makes sure they are fully observed.

The Bureau of Research Affairs is in charge of the formulation of general principles of the Islamic Azad University's research programmes. It submits its criteria to the Council of Research for the final approval. Evaluation and comprehensive survey of research activation carried out by the Islamic Azad University's campuses is one of the main duties of this Bureau. It establishes scientific and academic relations with national and international, academic and research centers. The bureau examines various research patterns in cooperation with the Islamic Azad University campuses throughout the country.

The Bureau of Planning and Budget is an affiliate of the Islamic Azad University Central Organization, which undertakes short term and long term planning for the Islamic Azad University research activates. It supervises the accurate execution of the research programmes, and tries to upgrade the Islamic Azad University Quality of research performance.

The Information Services Department is a well organized section of the Islamic Azad University. This department is highly specialized and fully equipped in order to provide information for the Islamic Azad University to prepare the relevant tables and statistics. Moreover, the department is fully involved in the analysis and design of appropriate software system to meet educational research as well as administrative and financial needs.

This unit is responsible for the planning and designation of projects for the employment of specialized personnel, in connection with the growing needs of the university.

This Office makes efforts to establish continuous contacts between various ministries involved in industry, and the University. As a result, suitable opportunities for bilateral co-operation between the industry and the Islamic Azad University will be provided. The University has been quite successful in attracting research funds from various industrial sectors in the country.

This office reviews and examines equipment needs of the University for research in various academic fields.

The Publication Department is responsible for all activities related to the Islamic Azad University's publishments, libraries, and bookshops. Furthermore, supervision and assistance in the selection of books and purchasing them, providing electronic media, and pur chasing paper is the duty of this department. The Publication Department of the Islamic Azad University campuses are equipped with various new and up-to-date books and academic materials. This unit has close contacts with the domestic and foreign publishers. The department is also in charge of publishing the most up to date research findings carried out by the Islamic Azad University faculty members. The large number of books published by the Publication Department is considered as a landmark in the history of the University's achievements.

The Young Researchers Club is a non-profit institution, established by the Islamic Azad University , for young and gifted students who pursue academic research. Located in Tehran, the Club provides its members with such facilities as, internet access, recreational and sports equipments, awards, loans, Club journals and periodicals, and field trips. Moreover, it provides opportunities for the members to take part in scientific researches, and meetings at national level. All scholars between the ages of 15 to 30 may join this Club provided that they meet the requirements for admission.

The Islamic Azad University Young Researchers Club comprises of two major administrative sections. The Board of Trustees, and the Club Council. The Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees is the highest decision and policy making body. It includes the President of the Islamic Azad University , the Vice President of Students' Affairs, the Vice President of Research, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Vice President of Non-Profit Schools, six teaching members of staff, and three Islamic Scholars.

The Club Council is made up of a Club President of Scientific and Research Affairs, Vice President of Cultural and Extra-Curricular Activities, and Vice President of Administrative and Logistic Affairs. The Council considers the annual activities of the Club, approves rules of procedures, and offers guidelines for the fulfillment of its goals and objectives.

Memberships are welcomed from those young researchers and gifted students who meet the requirements of admission to the Club. They can take advantage of the facilities and opportunities offered by the Club such as internet access, scientific research sources, sports and recreational facilities, field trips, and participation in scientific, research seminars at the national level.
